Maison Ikkoku by Rumiko Takahashi
Maison Ikkoku by Rumiko Takahashi

Maison Ikkoku is an older series of Takahashi's, written in the early 80s. It is about the bizarre tenants of an apartment block, Ikkoku-kan, but more specifically about the love between the beautiful manager, Kyoko, and a young resident, Godai. But between their stubborness, shyness, various suitors and meddlesome neighbours, their love is hard won. I love this series because of the love and reality, but admit that some people do not like it for the same reasons. The reader finds themselves cheering for Godai, and now, as the English translation is also nearing its end, the reader is saddened that there will be no more new volumes out within even a year.

English version: Viz. There are only a few more parts to go and the series will be finished. How sad to see it go!
